Your Island Arrival

Good planning, smooth arrival! [Download this Information as PDF] | [Find Concierge Services and Assistance]

So you’ve chosen the perfect villa! Congratulations, this is an important milestone on the way to a peaceful and relaxing island vacation. Once you have confirmed your rental with a deposit, the true work begins… in planning a smooth arrival.

You may be tempted to wait until a few weeks before arrival to begin setting up services and activities, but we we suggest that you get started planning your arrival once you have sent in your first payment particularly car rentals, provisioning, chef services and child care.

WE REQUIRE THAT ALL ARRIVAL DETAILS, including airline flight number(s), flight arrival time, number of persons including any children or infants, and car rental arrangements (including in whose name[s] the vehicle[s] are reserved) no later than 3 weeks before you arrive, since our schedules go out in advance to island managers and staff.

Island Escorts: Our villas are generally located off the beaten path, in residential areas with switchbacks and narrow spaces where knowledge of the neighborhood is key. For this reason, we will arrange to have you met on arrival by a representative who will drive ahead to guide you to your villa, orient you with the property so that you know where everything is and whom to contact if you have any needs, and answer your questions.

Grocery Provisioning: Once you are settled in (and after a long day of travel), you may not feel adventurous or energetic enough to go looking for food and drink. Especially if you have a large party, children or infants, having groceries pre-stocked is a great convenience!

Chef Services: Our island chefs can prepare a variety of meals, from special occasion and gourmet, to simple main courses, or even heat and eat with instructions on arrival so that you can enjoy a worry-free first night on island. Your kitchen is fully stocked with all implements and appliances including stove and fridge/freezer, so you can also enjoy cooking when you desire.

Children & Infants: Nannies should be arranged in advance due to limited services. There are also activities that are specifically designed for younger children to allow for family learning, exploration and togetherness. Enjoy a romantic evening out with assurance. Book baby gear such as full sized (subject to availability) or Pack ’n’ Play cribs, air mattresses, high chairs, and car seats.

Mind, Body & Fitness: Include an indulgent Massage, Facial, Manicure, Pedicure or other Beauty Treatment during your vacation, at a quality spa or delivered to your villa depending on your island and the availability of qualified providers. In some destinations, Golf Tee Times may be arranged, or time on a Tennis court. You may also request Personal Trainers, Yoga, or sign up for an invigorating Nature Hike, Stand Up Paddle Boarding and more.

Adventures in Paradise: Activities such as Sightseeing and Historic Walking Tours, Boating, Fishing, Snorkel, SCUBA (Diving or PADI certification), Live Theater, Festivals and Concerts are all possibilities, depending on island or time of year. There is no need to pack your vacation with too much to “do” - but knowing what’s happening will provide you with more flexibility.

Car Rentals: We recommend that you allow the Concierge to work directly with the island car rental teams to ensure the best selection ahead of time. Do book a 4-wheel drive; even though most roads are paved, the steepness of the hills and a variety of terrains on the way to your villa may necessitate a bit more control, which you will appreciate - especially on dewy or rain-wet streets.

Coordination: When you land on an island, which is usually much smaller than many cities, you may be surprised to discover that with disembarking, luggage retrieval, the twisting, winding roads, traffic and speed limits, it can take up to 1 hour to travel the equivalent of approximately 12 miles! We know that after a long day’s travel, the last thing you want to do is zig-zag all over the island to connect with your rental car and move on to your villa.

This is why we always recommend that our guests pay close attention to villa location in comparison to arrival port and car rental pickup and drop-off. Please bear in mind, your car rental agency may not be located at your arrival port.
